Meaningful journey to Taiping Malaysia

My family and I took a taxi to Golden Miles on 14th December 2011.After that we took am overnight coach to Taiping, Malaysia. We reached there about 7 in the morning.Taiping was different from Singapore, you could hardly see multi-storey flats.Instead, you see terrace housing and single storey houses. My first impression of the city is that it is a peaceful city as there were no people rushing to work.

We took a taxi to our relatives' house afterwards. We showered and stayed overnight to restore our energy.

The second day, we headed towards the Taiping railway station which was the first railway station of Malaysia. It was originally located at the site which is now Edward VII Primary School. It was build to improve the transport situations for the British to export tins after they settled the quarrels for control of tin mines in Larut from Taiping to Port Wield. The Taiping railway station shortened the export of tins to Port Wield to a few hours instead of using elephants to export it as there were no proper roads, just jungle paths.I felt that for such an old place not to be torn down and rebuilt,it must ba a very historical and important place for Malaysia.

Afterwards, we went to the Taiping Lake Garden.I breathed in the fresh air and felt relaxed. It makes me forget every single wories that I have. The lake water is calm and crystal clear. My family and I rented a boat and paddle around the lake.We enjoyed ourselves. It was also the first time that I felt so happy before.
The beautiful scenery at Taiping Lake Garden.
The place where we rented our boat.
At night,we went to a hawker center where my family and I tried out some local delicacies. Some of it includes Mee Rebus and Ais Kacang. While on the way,I realised that it would be hard to travel across the country if you do not have a car.

The Mee Rebus whet my appetite straight away.It was brightly coloured. Its sauce was orange with the white and yellow colour of the egg and finished by adding a lime which is green. The sour smell wafted through my nose. The taste was delicious with a sour and spicy taste.
DELICIOUS!
The Ais Kacang was colourful. It has different colours like brown, yellow, green and red. While the Ais Kacang was being made, there was the sound of ice being shaved. When I tasted the Ais Kacang ,it was sweet and has different taste. The brown ice tasted like brown sugar. The yellow ice tasted like pineapple. The green ice tasted like honeydew. The red ice tasted like rose flavour.
COLOURFUL AND DELICIOUS!

The third day,we took a coach back to Singapore. On the bus,I thought about the journey. I realised Taiping's local culture was a mix of Chineses,Malays and Indians. It was fun to immerse in their culture. The local people that I met and interacted with was friendly and helpful. They are always willing to help us and solve our probelms. Most of them could also speak Malay. The journey sure was fun and meaningful.
